“Kloetze und Schinken” is an adorable little cafe-gallery in Berlin’s happening Kreuzkölln district. It was recommended to myself and a friend on a cold winters day by a local toy seller on Maybachufer canal who reckoned it was a lovely nearby place to warm ourselves up, have a coffee and take a look at the gallery space which had a really “sweet” porn exhibition currently showing,..ay?!?
The cafe was indeed very charming with lots of interesting objets d’art adorning the bar top and pictures on the walls. We ordered yogi teas with frothy tops and almond coated chocolate cookies, mmm.
The atmosphere was really chilled with only a few people sitting around or working on their film scripts! The music as well the pastel decor harkened back to the 1920’s/50’s. It’s a great place for daydreaming I can tell you!
As for the porn exhibition, not sure if it I would say it was “sweet” :-), more like a tongue in cheek kitsch homage to porn. The exhibition is called “Komm rein”(come in). It is a collective exhibition by artists Rosa Futuro & Tobias Marx, Zoppe Voskuhl, Gariele-Maria Scheda, Caren Sielaff, Prof. Inhalt, Tulip Enterprises, Marian Kolenda
One enters the exhibition bedroom by clambering up a giant ladder and one is transported into a wonderland of porn memorabilia and “collectible” items. If you’re ever in the area it’s definitely worth stopping by for a coffee and a nose around!
